Five words that describe my style as a supervisor:

What is it like to be in a room with me as a supervisor?

My main priority is to provide support and encouragement, while also providing more structured feedback when necessary. I like to create an open and understanding environment where people can feel safe to express negative emotions about clients, or difficulties that they have faced in providing treatment. I will often speak about my own difficulties or ‘mistakes’ in therapy, as a way of modelling humility but also to show that often really powerful work can come out of recovering from difficult encounters. I am quite flexible in terms of how the supervision session flows in order to be responsive to your needs as a supervisee.

Three books that have influenced my work as a psychologist:

The Happiness Trap
by Russ Harris

Been There. Done That. Try This! An Aspie’s Guide to Life on Earth
by Tony Attwood et al

Any Ordinary Day
by Leigh Sales

Circumstances under which I provide supervision:

  • Secondary supervision or consults

Areas that I am happy to provide secondary consults on:

  • Treatment of children and adults with ADHD and ASD
  • Parenting and behaviour management strategies

Circumstances under which I don’t provide supervision:

  • Supervision related to AHPRA complaints
  • Supervision for court reports
  • Supervision solely for written assignments
